Rigas Stradina University suffer its first loss, Kibirkstis jumps into first place

Last week there was plenty of action in the Women's Baltic Basketball League as ten games took place.

Last week's action tipped off in Vilnius, where Kibirkstis Vilnius (15-2) 100-58 (29-14, 32-14, 23-12, 16-18) comfortably beat BJBS Riga (2-16).

Gintare Petronyte was unstoppable once again as she finished the game with 19 points (6/8 2PT, 7/7 FT), 13 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, 6 drawn fouls, and 43 EFF in 21 minutes of action.

We move to Latvia, where Liepaja/LSSS (10-9) secured an important win, beating Siauliai-Vilmers (6-13) 70-54 (22-15, 15-10, 19-10, 14-19).

Paula Klescova led the way for the winners with 12 points (5/7 2PT, 0/1 3PT, 2/2 FT), 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, 1 turnover, and 23 EFF in 33 minutes of play.

Wednesday's games were closed with Riga's derby, where TTT Riga (11-7) gave the first loss of the season for the league's leaders Rigas Stradina University (16-1).

TTT won the game 86-72 (17-15, 27-23, 26-15, 16-19).

Dekeiya Cohen put up a solid double-double, finishing the game with 21 points (9/17 2PT, 3/4 FT), 16 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 turnover, and 30 EFF.

Gunta Basko added 15 points (5/10 2PT, 1/2 3PT, 2/2 FT), 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, and 30 EFF.

On Thursday, TalTech Tallinn (10-9) defeated Daugavpils University (3-15) 64-45 (10-11, 19-7, 14-18, 21-9).

For the visitors, Annika Koster put up a near triple-double performance with 16 points (5/13 2PT, 1/2 3PT, 3/4 FT), 17 rebounds, 7 steals, 2 assists, 4 turnovers, 7 drawn fouls, and 33 EFF.

Meanwhile, BJBS Riga suffered its second loss of the week against Aistes Kaunas (13-6), which won a game in Riga 81-57 (24-9, 21-23, 12-13, 24-12).

Martyna Petrenaite led the way with 22 points (5/11 2PT, 2/5 3PT, 6/6 FT), 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, 5 drawn fouls, 5 turnovers, and 21 EFF.

Kibirkstis Vilnius had a much tougher task on Friday but extended its winning streak after beating TalTech Tallinn 87-81 (26-18, 28-24, 19-27, 14-12).

Once again, Petronyte was Kibirkstis top scorer, putting up 18 points (4/7 2PT, 1/1 3PT, 7/7 FT), 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 6 drawn fouls, 6 turnovers, and 24 EFF.

Gabriele Sulske added 15 points (1/2 2PT, 4/7 3PT, 1/5 FT), 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal, 9 drawn fouls, 3 turnovers, and 24 EFF.

Daugavpils University bounced back after the loss against TalTech Tallinn by defeating Siauliai-Vilmers 79-69 (25-22, 21-21, 17-13, 16-13).

Viktoriya Babych put up a monster performance, finishing the game with 18 points (1/5 2PT, 5/7 3PT, 1/1 FT), 22 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 3 turnovers, and 34 EFF.

Rigas Stradina University also bounced back from a loss with a 68-60 (18-14, 21-18, 17-11, 12-17) victory against Liepaja/LSSS.

Evelina Otto was the top performer of the game with 17 points (5/11 2PT, 0/2 3PT, 7/9 FT), 14 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist, 7 drawn fouls, and 28 EFF in 29 minutes of action.

TTT Riga celebrated a crucial victory against table rivals Neptunas Klaipeda (11-6). The Latvian team won the game 89-79 (22-19, 17-16, 26-17, 24-27).

For the winners, Dekeiya Cohen scored 33 points (14/21 2PT, 5/7 FT) and added 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 2 turnovers, 6 drawn fouls, and 41 EFF.

Kate Vilka added 33 points (5/6 2PT, 7/9 3PT, 2/4 FT), 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 34 EFF.

The previous week was closed by LCC Klaipeda's (9-9) 85-59 (26-13, 20-17, 20-16, 19-13) victory against BJBS Riga.

On the winning side, Maisa Pereira Dias accumulated 11 points (3/3 2PT, 5/8 FT), 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 block, 9 drawn fouls, 1 turnover, and game-high 31 EFF.
